Simon Dent has over 35years’ experience in accountancy and is the managing director and founder of Riverside Financial Consultancy Ltd.
Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with BDO Stoy Hayward in 1985 which he left in 1987, Simon initially specialised in providing services to the entertainment sector. As things evolved, he soon broadened into other business sectors such as theatrical production, international tour merchandising, restaurants and property development. In 1998 Riverside was created after having established the embryo of the business as a self-employed accountant for the first 11 years.
Having always enjoyed helping with new business start-ups, the opportunities to assist existing businesses become more efficient by a hands-on approach and structuring was the natural way to grow.
This approach saved client’s considerable amounts of money over the years.
Consequently Riverside developed naturally and the ‘holistic’ approach to the accounting function was the key.
Over the years Simon has worked with over 1,000 businesses through the complexities of start-up and on-going situations. His working experience has touched upon almost every area of accountancy and taxation affecting small businesses and individuals.
Outside his work Simon spends time with his family and friends, has three children now all adults and enjoys playing the piano as his past time. Theatre, opera and the arts are very much enjoyed from time to time as is the occasional round of golf.
Edward started with Riverside in 2008 where he qualified as Chartered Certified Accountant in in 2013.
After passing his Batchelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Business Finance with first class honours, he spent several years gaining hands-on business and managerial experience running branches of a large restaurant chain.
Having already embarked on his training with the ACCA under his own steam, he made the decision to commit fully to accountancy once the opportunity arose, and took to it like a duck to water.
Since 2012 he has grown into the senior management position in Riverside with daily responsibility for the work flow and staff management as well being a primary contact for clients.
Edward enjoys keeping fit and running. Outside work he is a keen skier and squash player.
Soojin joined Riverside in 2012 and was on the final stage of her examinations to qualify as a Chartered Certified Accountant which she passed.
With a Batchelor of Arts degree in Financial Service and Marketing under her belt, her personal approach to clients combined with her attention to detail has helped establish her credentials as a contributor to our small but effective team.
She works on all aspects of client’s accounts and taxation through which she has developed a good understanding of some of the more complex issues clients have to face.
She is currently away on maternity leave and has just had a baby girl.
Outside of work she likes reading, travel, swimming and keeping fit.
George has been with Riverside since June 2012 where he qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2014. He has been gaining experience in accountancy since January 2009.
He obtained a 2:1 degree in accounting and information systems from the University of Leeds in 2008.
Having obtained a useful grounding in other firms he enjoys the overview and holistic approach at Riverside which he gets from the variety of work he carries out right across the portfolio of clients.
As part of the tightly coordinated and dedicated team he works in most areas of the business and has client contact on a day to day basis.
Interested in martial arts, sport and keeping fit outside of work, he enjoys the challenges of marathons and the like.
Having just qualified with an upper second degree from Manchester University, Joseph is trying his hand at accountancy. It is early days yet but he is proving his worth in the book-keeping department and has already achieved a good result in the exam P3.
